Frequently Asked Questions

What areas do you build in?

The NuChange offices are located north of the river, but we have a large job scope that spans to include inland as well as both north and south of the river suburban areas.

Is it a cheaper option to add on an extension or second storey addition rather then move?

Generally it is cheaper when you take into account all of the costs involved with moving as well as the selling, re-establishment and government fees such as stamp duty. Building an addition or an extension also adds further real estate value to your existing home.

Will my new addition or extension fit in with my existing home?

NuChange pride themselves on building additions and extensions that blend flawlessly with your existing home. Especially for heritage homes, the identical windows, finishes and features will all be matched to ensure this cohesion.

Do you handle everything or are there some things I need to do?

This is completely up to the needs and wants of the specific client. We will work together with you every step of the way or we can handle every stage of the process and will just need input from you on final design decisions such as finishes and fittings. We are also happy to work on a project up until a certain stage to adhere to budget requirements, such as a client taking care of the finishing touches.

Do I need to move out whilst the construction takes place?

Generally this is not necessary as NuChange work around you by isolating selected areas at a time during the construction process.

What if I canít access my kitchen, bathroom or laundry temporarily?

To overcome this inconvenience NuChange set up a temporary kitchen, bathroom or laundry as needed that will include access to a toilet, shower and sinks.

What if I need assistance with my colour or finishing choices?

With so many options to choose from and numerous decisions to make, NuChange offer an interior designer as well as a colour consultant that can help guide all of the design choices.

When can you start?

Once the building license has been approved, site works can commence within approximately 4 weeks.

How long should I expect the completion of the job to take?

The time period of job completion varies depending on the size and scope of the project. NuChange have measures in place to ensure high levels of efficiency in completing each stage of a job and strive to meet deadlines as best as possible.

What if I experience a problem after hours?

NuChange can be contacted outside of contact hours and visit sites should this occur, but all measures are taken to ensure protected jobs throughout all phases of the construction process such as using tarp or partition coverage.

What if I want to amend something in the contract after the job has commenced?

The contract is drawn up after careful completion of all of the planning stages to ensure that every aspect of the job has been covered and ideally so that the entire scope of the work is clear from the start, but amend ments can be made if necessary.

What if Iím not home and the builders need to access my house?

If access is necessary a secure lock box is kept on site with a key.

What time should I expect tradesmen to start each day?

Tradesmen will work trade hours on the site, generally from 7:00 / 7:30am until 3:30 / 4:00pm, depending on the task to complete.

Can I be sure that my home and the entire site will be left clean at the end of the day?

NuChange strive to keep a clean and tidy job site as much as is possible through such initiatives as isolating areas with partitions as generally our clients are still living within the house.
